The CEnT-S (CISIA English Test – Sciences) is an entrance test created for students who want to enrol in English-taught bachelor’s degrees in Italy. It is administered by CISIA, the organisation that previously handled the English TOLC tests. The CEnT-S exam brings multiple subject-based entrance assessments under one unified system for international students applying to English-taught programs in Italy, so instead of preparing for multiple tests, a student only needs to prepare for this single standardised exam.
Its purpose is straightforward: to assess whether you have the basic scientific and logical skills required for courses such as engineering, economics, computer science, pharmacy, biological sciences, and similar fields.
Earlier, students had to take different TOLC exams depending on the program they wanted—TOLC-I for engineering, TOLC-E for economics, and TOLC-F for pharmacy. This was confusing and complicated for international applicants.
The CEnT-S exam solves this problem by offering one unified test. This means: Universities can streamline admissions, students get a more predictable and simplified testing process, and international applicants have equal opportunity, as the exam is offered in English worldwide.
